Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who represents California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress, announced a series of community engagement efforts and addressed local concerns regarding federal workers through recent posts on his official social media account.
On October 6, 2025, Panetta informed constituents about upcoming office hours in South San Jose, stating, “Tomorrow, October 7, from 11AM to 2PM, I will be holding office hours in South San Jose. This is your opportunity to share your thoughts on issues, ask questions, or seek assistance with federal agencies like Social Security, Medicare, or Veterans Affairs.” He further clarified the process for securing an appointment during these hours by posting later that day: “If we are able to offer you a meeting, you will be contacted by staff to schedule a time. Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Request a meeting during office hours here: https://t.co/tTIN2O74Xb”
Addressing the impact of government operations on his district’s workforce amid ongoing challenges for federal employees, Panetta posted on October 7: “CA-19 is home to more than 7,000 federal workers, many of whom have been furloughed. At my Federal Employee Roundtable, I got to hear their concerns, and during this shutdown and beyond, I will always be a voice for workers and working families in CA-19.”
Panetta has represented California’s 19th District since succeeding Sam Farr in 2017 and has consistently focused on constituent services and labor issues (https://panetta.house.gov/about/full-biography). Born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently residing in Carmel Valley at age 53, he holds degrees from the University of California Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
