Rep. Jimmy Panetta, who has represented California’s 19th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently shared updates on social media regarding his meetings with local constituents and ongoing legislative efforts.
On May 8, Panetta posted about a recent discussion with an academic from his district: “Good meeting with a local professor to discuss the importance of continued federal funding for science and research.”
Later that day, he highlighted positive news from a community member: “Happy to get this good news from a constituent who recently received their Green Card.”
On May 9, Panetta addressed healthcare issues in his district: “Great to meet with local healthcare providers to discuss potential improvements to the Medicare system, including my ‘Strengthening Medicare for Patients and Providers Act’ so everyone in CA-19 can see doctors in a timely manner and access the care they need.”
Panetta, born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently residing in Carmel Valley, succeeded Sam Farr as representative of California’s 19th district. He holds degrees from the University of California, Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD). As part of his work in Congress, Panetta continues to engage with constituents on topics such as immigration policy, healthcare reform—including proposals like the Strengthening Medicare for Patients and Providers Act—and support for scientific research funding.
