Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 19th district since 2017, recently highlighted his legislative and constituent service efforts through a series of posts on social media.

On November 9, 2025, Panetta addressed the Jackson-Vanik Amendment, stating, “Repealing the Jackson-Vanik Amendment would bring long-term economic investment and strengthen our strategic relationships with important countries like Kazakhstan. I am proud to be part of a bipartisan effort to lift the Jackson-Vanik Amendment, boost trade, and strengthen our”.

Later that day, Panetta shared an example of his office’s work assisting constituents: “Recently, a constituent contacted me for assistance with the IRS after he was erroneously charged a $6,000 penalty fee. He tried calling the IRS but nobody was helping him. I stepped in, provided the constituent’s necessary banking statements, and the IRS reversed the penalty,” (November 9, 2025).

On November 10, 2025, Panetta described meeting with local advocates about transportation initiatives: “Great to meet with local advocates to discuss ways to advance sustainable transportation in the San Jose area. Look forward to our work together to finding ways to make commuting in CA-19 easier, greener, and more affordable.”

Panetta has served as California’s representative for District 19 since replacing Sam Farr in 2017. Born in Washington D.C. in 1969 and currently residing in Carmel Valley at age 53, Panetta holds degrees from UC Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD).
