Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a member of the U.S. Congress since 2017 representing California’s 19th District, has been active in addressing environmental protection, housing, and immigration policy through a series of tweets. Panetta, who was born in Washington, D.C. in 1969 and currently resides in Carmel Valley, holds a BA from the University of California, Davis, and obtained his JD from Santa Clara University.

On April 26, 2025, Rep. Panetta shared his support for the bipartisan Save Our Sequoias Act, intended to protect California’s Giant Sequoias. He emphasized the importance of science-based forest management and restoration to preserve the trees, reduce wildfire risk, and ensure their longevity.

Later on the same day, Rep. Panetta expressed pride in co-leading the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act of 2025. The legislation aims to strengthen the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, expand housing opportunities, and create jobs nationwide.

On April 28, 2025, Panetta remarked on the Trump Administration’s reversal regarding the termination of student visas. He asserted the need to continue advocating for due process and recognized the role of courts as a critical component of the American checks and balances system.

As a member of Congress, Panetta’s efforts continue to focus on legislative measures for environmental conservation, housing affordability, and the protection of immigrant rights, reflecting the responsibilities and challenges of his representation of California’s 19th District.
