Dr. Mary Anne Majadillas, Associate Professor of Finance in the College of Business, will discuss highlights from her research on the capacity of developing countries to increase public debt beyond current and forecast levels to fund needed climate adaptation and transition investments. The obstacles to obtaining credit are something that she is familiar with on a personal level. In the second half of the interview, Mary Anne will talk about her personal experience as an international student applying for student loans and how she eventually paid it all off.
Dr. Majadillas obtained her Ph.D. in finance from Florida State University and undergraduate and master’s degrees in economics from the University of the Philippines. Her primary area of research is in empirical corporate finance. She uses public corporate disclosures to study executive turnovers, corporate governance, executive compensation, and leveraged buyouts.
