The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball will look to close 2022 with back-to-back victories when it travels to The City to take on San Francisco State on New Years Eve. The game will tip-off at 1 p.m. as the opener of doubleheader action with the Otter men.

The last time these teams met, The Otters nearly rallied back from a 16–point deficit in the second half before falling just short in a 60–55 loss in The Kelp Bed on Nov. 26. CSUMB closed to within three points at 52–49 on a pair of Emily Perez free throws with five minutes remaining and then got within two when Perez knocked down a 3–pointer to make it 57–55 with 32 ticks left, but that was a close as they would get. Lauryn Pointer led the Otters with 13 points and Mikayla Mabie added 12 with eight assists. Tierra Snipes led all scorers with 15 for S.F.State.

CSUMB (4–6, 0–5 CCAA) will be looking for its first conference win of the season. San Francisco State (5–6, 1–4) will be trying to stay ahead of the Otters in the CCAA standings.
