Three Otters scored in double figures, but they could overcome a cold shooting night that allowed visiting Cal Poly Humboldt to take an 89–73 decision from Cal State Monterey Bay Thursday night in The Kelp Bed.

CSUMB got 19 points from freshman Ameere Britton (Elk Grove HS), 15 from sophomore Jordan Archie (Bishop Montgomery HS) and 12 from senior Levi Frankland (Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia). But they shot a season–low 35.8 percent (24-of-67) from the floor for the game, including 30 percent (9-of-30) in the first half, as Humboldt eased away during the final third of the period to open a 46–27 lead at intermission.

The Otters righted the ship over the final 20 minutes, winning the second half 46–43, but never got closer than 11 points down the stretch.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… an Amari Green jumper gave Humboldt an 83–68 lead with 2:13 to play.

TAKE THEM, THEY'RE FREE… Although the Otters struggled from the field, they were sharp from the free-throw line Thursday night, converting at a season–high 83.3 percent (15-of-18).

BACK ON THE BOARDS… After yielding 50+ rebounds in their previous two games, the Otters crashed the boards effectively Thursday night, out-rebounding Humboldt 42-39. Included in that total were a season–high 17 offensive rebounds.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB… Freshman Damjan Agovic made the most of his most extensive playing time as an Otter Thursday night. Not only did he lead the Otters with seven rebounds, he also recorded the first five points of his collegiate career.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT… POINTS: Ameere Britton 19; REBOUNDS: Damjan Agovic 7; ASSISTS: Ameere Britton 3; BLOCKS: Damjan Agovic/Jared Williams 1; STEALS: Damjan Agovic/Jordan Archie/Ameere Britton/J.R. Schilling 2.

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters conclude their 2–game homestand by hosting Sonoma State Saturday. The men will tip-off at 3 p.m. as the opener of doubleheader action with the Otter women. Note that, due to travel issues with the Humboldt women's team, the Otter women will be playing Friday and Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. this week.
