Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 19th district since 2017, recently addressed several pressing issues through his social media platform. On March 25, 2025, he shared his views on education, postal services, and Social Security.

In a tweet posted on March 25 at 18:30 UTC, Rep. Panetta discussed his involvement in a listening session with researchers and faculty from UC Santa Cruz. He expressed concerns about "executive overreach and funding freezes" impacting education and research opportunities. He emphasized the importance of "safeguarding academic freedom" and investing in science. "I convened a listening session with UC Santa Cruz researchers and faculty to hear firsthand how executive overreach and funding freezes are threatening education, research, and opportunity. We’ll keep fighting together, to safeguard academic freedom, invest in science," he stated.

Later that day at 20:00 UTC, Rep. Panetta turned his attention to the Postal Service, highlighting its significance as a public institution connecting communities nationwide. He reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining its constitutional role by stating: "The Postal Service is a constitutional public institution that connects every community in every corner of the country. I’ll keep fighting to keep it that way."

At 21:30 UTC on the same day, Rep. Panetta addressed Social Security issues through another tweet. He advocated for strengthening rather than reducing Social Security benefits upon which millions rely for their livelihood: "Instead of gutting Social Security, which millions depend on, we should be working together to strengthen and sustain it."
