Representative Jimmy Panetta, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 19th district since 2017, recently shared updates on local initiatives and community engagements through a series of social media posts. Panetta, born in Washington, D.C., in 1969 and currently residing in Carmel Valley, highlighted developments ranging from memorial dedications to advancements in education and public safety.
On July 14, 2025, Panetta visited the Home of Peace Cemetery in Santa Cruz to observe the newly installed Wall of Remembrance. He stated: “Visited the Home of Peace Cemetery in Santa Cruz to see the new Wall of Remembrance, now the only public Holocaust memorial between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Grateful to Peter Clay Hanson for creating a space to honor history and teach future generations.”
Later that day, on July 14, 2025, Panetta commented on progress at California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB), specifically referencing a new facility dedicated to science and engineering. He remarked: “Exciting progress at CSUMB. The new Edward “Ted” Taylor Science and Engineering Building will strengthen marine science and ag-tech research in CA-19. Proud that the federal government played its part and proud to see the partnership at all levels, including the work and”
In another post on July 14, 2025, Panetta discussed his meeting with local fire officials at Paso Robles Fire Station 3. He wrote: “Great meeting with Captain Charles Brown and his team at Paso Robles Fire Station 3 to thank him for their leadership and service. Look forward to working together to ensure firefighters have the resources that they need to stay safe as they do their jobs.”
Panetta is an alumnus of UC Davis (BA) and Santa Clara University (JD). He succeeded Sam Farr as representative for California’s 19th District.
