Cost of college went up for non-resident students at Hartnell College

In-state tuition and fees were unchanged for 2018-19 at Hartnell College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

California residents paid $1,420 to attend the two-year public institution in both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.

Non-resident students would have paid 524.6 percent more than residents this year, or $8,870. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 15.6 percent from $7,670 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are California residents.

Data shows 87 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 726 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.8 million.

Including all undergraduates (12,521), 6,089 students used grants or scholarships totaling $19.8 million.
