5

California State University, Monterey Bay recently issued the following announcement.

Late 17–4 run puts game away in 64–45 SFSU victory

Host San Francisco State (3–2, 1–0 CCAA) pulled away in the fourth quarter to earn 64–45 post-Thanksgiving win over Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday afternoon in The Swamp.

CSUMB (1–4, 0–1) battled back following a game–opening 17–4 run by the Gators to get within four points. But a second 17–4 run, this time to open the fourth quarter, proved too much to overcome.

Freshman Frances Potts (Carson/Warren HS) led CSUMB with 13 points. Fellow freshmen Rayshanti McNeal Price (Lancaster HS) and Sarah Shaw (Dana Point/JSerra HS) led the Otters on the glass with seven rebounds apiece.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… A floating jumper by Mya Blake gave San Francisco State a 58–38 lead with 4:19 remaining.

ON THE REBOUND… The Otters out–rebounded San Francisco State 38–28 Saturday afternoon, marking the third time in five games this season that CSUMB has posted a rebounding margin of plus–10 or greater.

FOR (CCAA) OPENERS: Following Saturday's game, CSUMB now is 7–10 all–time in CCAA openers since joining the league for the 2004–05 season. In CCAA openers played on the road, the Otters are 2–5.

WELCOME TO THE RAFT… Junior guard Tricia Delph, a transfer from West L.A. College by way of Fairfax High School, made her Otter debut Saturday at San Francisco State. She finished with three points and six rebounds in 24 minutes off of the bench.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT… POINTS: Frances Potts 13; REBOUNDS: Rayshanti McNeal Price/Sarah Shaw 7; ASSISTS: Three Otters 1; BLOCKS: None; STEALS: Isabel Lizarraga 2.

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters begin the final leg of their 7–game, season–opening roadtrip Thursday (Dec. 2) when they visit Sonoma State. Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m. as the opener of men's/women's doubleheader action.
