Cross Country Releases 2022 Schedule

The 2022 Hartnell College Cross Country schedule will look to prepare this year's squad to defend their Northern California individual and team titles along with helping the Panthers prepare for another top finish at the CCCAA State Championship. The women's team has won the last three available regional titles and was second overall at the state championship in 2021. Hartnell's men bounced back in 2021 winning the Northern California team title and recorded the program's highest finish at state with a third place finish. The women's team will be lead by Sofia Camacho (North Salinas), the defending Norcal champion, and Andrea Villegas (NMCHS) and Ashley Ochoa (Gonzales), both returning all-region runners. For the men, Esteban Deniz (King City) will lead the Panthers after placing 16th at the state championship as a freshman. He will be helped by fellow sophomores Ricky Diaz III (King City), Jose Velazquez (Alisal), Daniel Pantoja (Greenfield), and Joshua Riley (King City).

The Panthers will open the 2022 season with the Crystal Springs Early Bird Invitational hosted by DeAnza College on Friday, August 26th. Crystal Springs will also play host to the Coast Conference Championship on Wednesday, October 26th. This fall's Northern California Championship will take place in Humboldt County for the first time since 2002. College of the Redwoods will play host on Saturday, September 17th for the Norcal Preview Meet in Fortuna, CA and again on Saturday, November 5th for the Northern California Championship. Last fall, the Chabot Twilight produced three sub 15 minute 5000m clockings in the rare fall track affair. Sofia Camacho will look to defend her 3k title or potentially venture up to a fall 5000m on the track. The Chabot Twilight will take place Friday, September 30th at 5:30pm. The Panthers will match up against some of the the best programs in Southern California on Friday, October 7th at the Manny Bautista Invitational hosted by San Diego Mesa College. Toro Park will play host to the Panthers annual lone home contest on Friday, October 14th with the women's race starting at 3:30pm followed by the men at 4:30pm. The 2022 CCCAA State Championship will take place on Saturday, November 19th at Woodward Park in Fresno, CA.
