Representative Jimmy Panetta, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 19th District since 2017, recently expressed his views on various issues through a series of tweets. Panetta, who was born in Washington, D.C., and currently resides in Carmel Valley, shared his concerns and commitments on social media.

On March 24, 2025, Rep. Panetta voiced his opposition to what he perceives as efforts by the current administration and Elon Musk to undermine the Social Security Administration. In his tweet, he stated: "This Administration and Elon Musk are attempting to gut the Social Security Administration, slashing staff, closing offices, risking data privacy, and pushing us toward dangerous privatization. I’ll continue to fight to protect Social Security and the millions who rely on it."

Later that day, Panetta discussed his meeting with constituents regarding educational programs. On March 24 at 19:00 UTC he tweeted: "Met with constituents today to discuss the importance of protecting the Dept. of Ed’s Regional Education Laboratory program. For nearly 60 years, these labs have helped improve student outcomes by providing evidence-based solutions. We must keep supporting this vital resource."

In another tweet posted at 20:00 UTC on March 24th, Panetta highlighted challenges faced by federal workers due to proposed budget cuts by DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency). He stated: "There’s dignity in public service. I listened to federal workers facing threats to their jobs and livelihoods from DOGE’s cuts. We’ll keep pushing through legislation, litigation, and mobilization to protect these workers and the services they provide."
