Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 19th district, shared updates on various initiatives through his social media posts on December 9, 2024. Panetta, who has been serving in Congress since 2017, highlighted his involvement in local development projects and legislative efforts.

On December 9, 2024, Rep. Panetta announced the completion of a significant milestone for the Scotts Valley Town Center project. "The final piece of land for the long-awaited Scotts Valley Town Center has been secured. Proud to have helped secure federal funding to make this milestone possible. Excited for the opportunities this project will bring to our community."

Later that day, he addressed the issue of xylazine being used as a cutting agent for fentanyl, which has led to fatal overdoses. He is spearheading a bipartisan effort to pass legislation aimed at combating this problem. "Xylazine is wreaking havoc as a cutting agent for fentanyl, causing fatal overdoses. I’m leading a bipartisan coalition urging Congress to pass my bill, the Combating Illicit Xylazine Act, before the end of the year."

In another post on December 9, Panetta recounted assisting an elderly constituent with a bureaucratic issue involving the federal Office of Personnel Management. "When a 94-year-old constituent struggled to change her direct deposit with the federal Office of Personnel Management, her family turned to me for help. In under 48 hours, I was able to resolve the issue. Proud to fight to ensure our seniors in CA-19."
