Representative Jimmy Panetta, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 19th district since 2017, recently expressed his views on climate change and political collaboration through a series of tweets. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1969, Panetta resides in Carmel Valley and holds degrees from the University of California, Davis, and Santa Clara University.

On January 23, 2025, Rep. Panetta criticized the decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement. He stated: "The decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement demonstrates a lack of leadership on confronting climate change. I'm proud to have worked on the largest investment in human history to reduce our carbon output. We must continue this fight."

Later that day, Panetta emphasized his commitment to representing families in his district and protecting democratic values: "My focus remains clear: standing up for the families of CA-19, protecting our democracy, and delivering results. I’ll work with colleagues from both parties where possible, but rest assured, I’ll oppose any actions that harm our communities or values."

In another tweet on January 23rd, he discussed a meeting with a local sheriff about immigration concerns under the new administration: "I had a productive meeting with a local Sheriff to discuss concerns about the new Administration’s impact on our immigrant community. I’m committed to working with local leaders to ensure safety, respect, and fairness for all in our district."
