Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 19th district since 2017, recently took to social media to address several pressing issues. Panetta, who resides in Carmel Valley and holds degrees from the University of California, Davis and Santa Clara University, expressed concerns about potential changes affecting Social Security, executive overreach, and local economic development.

On March 17, 2025, Rep. Panetta warned that "Social Security is under attack" due to the administration's proposed cuts. He stated that these cuts would lead to the closure of nearly 50 SSA offices and a workforce reduction by 12%, impacting millions' access to benefits. He urged his followers to join him for an emergency virtual meeting scheduled for the following day at 5:00 PM. "Social Security is under attack"

Later that day, he emphasized the importance of Congress's role in federal spending and oversight as part of the system of checks and balances. Panetta asserted that "ceding legislative authority to any president, regardless of party," is unacceptable and committed to resisting executive overreach. "Our system of checks and balances includes Congress"

In another post on March 17, Panetta shared his visit to Beta Motorcycles in Paso Robles. He highlighted their efforts in job creation and innovation within the motorcycle industry as crucial for boosting the local economy. "Great to visit Beta Motorcycles in Paso Robles"
