On March 29, 2025, Representative Panetta criticized the current administration and entrepreneur Elon Musk for their perceived negative impact on the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) operations. The next day, March 30, 2025, Panetta highlighted his effort to maintain an active dialogue with constituents through town hall meetings. According to his tweet, "Town hall #14 since February 1st, because I refuse to back down. This time, we were in Santa Cruz County to talk about the Majority’s potential cuts to Medicaid. Seniors, children, and the vulnerable are at risk, but together, we’ll fight back for working families."
