There is an abundance of local history in El Carmelo Cemetery! City staff are busy digitizing historical maps and information that date back to the 1890's. Volunteers from the Monterey County Genealogy Society are helping to better organize records, while the Cemetery's administrative and grounds staff have mapped both historical and new sections in El Carmelo. This includes Section T - A recent addition of 36 new single burial sites completed in September.
With these projects and recent additions, the City looks to help meet the goal of providing more accessible information to the public; and to continue stewardship of a peaceful and historical resting place.
