Jimmy Panetta, the U.S. Congressman representing California’s 19th District, recently expressed important concerns regarding various legislative actions via his social media platform. Elected to Congress in 2017 following Sam Farr, Panetta has continued to engage with the community and voice his perspective on pressing issues.

On March 31, 2025, Panetta disclosed his ongoing efforts in holding town halls and conducting listening sessions throughout California’s 19th District. Through these initiatives, he aims to "communicate the impact that cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security could have and what we can do together to fight back."

Later on the same day, Panetta addressed the implications of eliminating the Department of Education. He emphasized, "Eliminating the Department of Education is an attack on students who need it most." He highlighted the potential negative effects on programs such as Title I, special education, student loans, and civil rights protections. He assured his constituents that Congress is responding with legislation to counteract what he describes as a reckless move.

In a subsequent post on March 31, 2025, Panetta criticized recent budgetary policies, specifically highlighting Speaker Johnson's proposal which he argues includes "more unfinanced tax cuts for billionaires while slashing critical services for working families." He noted concerns from the Congressional Budget Office about rising debt and hindered economic growth, positioning these actions as contrary to the proclamations of fiscal responsibility.
