Eleven Qualified Applications Received for At-Large City Council Seat

ELEVEN QUALIFIED APPLICATIONS RECEIVED FOR AT-LARGE CITY COUNCIL SEAT

Discussion Scheduled for the December 6, 2022 City Council Evening Meeting

The application period for the at-large City Council vacancy (Wednesday, November 9, 2022 to Monday, November 28, 2022, at 12:00 p.m.), has ended.

During the open application period:  

  • Twenty (20) City of Monterey residents requested and were issued application packets;
  • Twelve (12) applications were received by the deadline with 20 or more voter signatures;
  • Eleven (11) submitted applications qualified following voter signature verification by the Monterey County Elections Office.
The 11 qualified applications will be presented to City Council for consideration, further direction, and possible interviews at the December 6, 2022 City Council meeting evening session beginning at 7:00 p.m., at the City Council Chambers, 580 Pacific Street, Monterey. The 11 qualified applicants, in alphabetical order, are: Nicholas Cina (District 3 Resident); Kevin Dayton (District 1 Resident); Beth Fabinsky (District 1 Resident); Jack E. Fields (District 4 Resident); Gene Garcia (District 4 Resident); Connie Haugh (District 1 Resident); Jennifer Haydu (District 1 Resident); Anne Michaels Seavey (District 2 Resident); Laura O. Nagel (District 4 Resident); Daniel Presser (District 3 Resident); and Jean Rasch (District 3 Resident).

The term for this Council seat is set to expire in December 2024.
