Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 19th District since 2017, recently shared his views and activities through several tweets. Born in Washington, D.C., in 1969, Panetta has been an active voice in Congress following his predecessor Sam Farr. His education includes a BA from the University of California, Davis, and a JD from Santa Clara University.
On February 21, 2025, Rep. Panetta expressed his support for birthright citizenship as enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. He stated: "Birthright citizenship is a constitutional right in the 14th Amendment and upheld by the Supreme Court for over a century. The courts continue to check the President in our system of checks and balances."
Later that day, he attended an event at the Sikh Gurdwara in South San Jose. He noted his appreciation for the community's values and hospitality with this message: "Honored to join the community at the Sikh Gurdwara in South San Jose. From engaging with constituents to learning more about Sikh values of service and unity, it’s always inspiring to connect."
In another post on February 21, 2025, Panetta criticized proposed fiscal policies by House Majority members: "The Majority in the House wants to extend costly tax cuts while slashing Medicaid, hurting millions of low-income families, seniors & kids." He committed to fighting for healthcare and economic security.
