In a series of tweets on March 6, 2025, Representative Jimmy Panetta shared his views on various issues. Panetta, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 19th District since 2017, discussed topics ranging from employment decisions within the USDA to national political discourse and veteran support.
Panetta addressed a recent decision involving USDA employees, stating "Our system of checks and balances continues to flex its muscles. Nearly 6,000 USDA employees, fired without due process, have been ordered back to work. This includes vital public servants of our Forest Service, researchers, and public servants vital to our food system."
In another tweet posted an hour later, Panetta criticized a speech by former President Trump: "President Trump’s speech was full of self-congratulation but empty on the real issues affecting American families. He didn’t address inflation, grocery prices, or the challenges my constituents face every day. Issues he’s only exacerbating."
Later that day, Panetta expressed his appreciation for meeting with veterans' representatives: "Honored to meet with the California VFW Legislative Team. We had a great discussion on supporting our veterans, improving benefits, and ensuring those who served receive the care they deserve."
