Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 19th district, recently shared his views on social media regarding significant legislative and political issues. The tweets, posted on February 12, 2025, address concerns about disabled Americans' rights in marriage, critiques of the Republican budget resolution, and challenges posed by the Trump administration to scientific institutions.

In a tweet from February 12, 2025, Panetta highlighted discussions with SONorthAmerica about "the barriers disabled Americans face in marriage." He noted that "antiquated laws force over a million disabled adults to choose between love and essential benefits," and he mentioned his legislation aimed at addressing this issue: "Great to speak with @SONorthAmerica about an issue that too often goes undiscussed: the barriers disabled Americans face in marriage. Antiquated laws force over a million disabled adults to choose between love and essential benefits. My legislation, the Marriage Equality for…"

Later that day, Panetta criticized the Republican Majority’s budget resolution as being aligned with former President Trump's agenda. He described it as "destructive to working families" and "irresponsible with our economy," stating his commitment to oppose it: "The Republican Majority’s budget resolution is submissive to Trump’s agenda, destructive to working families, ineffective at governing, and irresponsible with our economy. We will fight back because our economy, our security, and our democracy must move forward."

In another tweet on February 12, 2025, Panetta expressed concern over actions by the Trump administration against NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). He accused them of threatening mass layoffs and violating security protocols while aiming to dismantle science programs. He assured continued resistance through oversight and legal means: "The Trump administration is attacking NOAA, threatening mass layoffs, violating security protocols, and working to dismantle critical science programs. We will continue to push back with oversight, legislation, and yes litigation."
