Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a representative of California's 19th district, recently communicated his legislative efforts and concerns via social media. His posts highlight initiatives towards improving homeownership opportunities, addressing economic impacts on small businesses, and advocating for food security.
On April 15, Panetta announced his participation in a bipartisan legislative effort, "Proud to help introduce the bipartisan Neighborhood Homes Investment Act to expand affordable homeownership in underserved communities. This bill would revitalize neighborhoods, create jobs, and help more families build generational wealth through homeownership."
Later the same day, he addressed the repercussions of tariffs, stating "I highlighted the urgent impact of tariffs on local businesses in CA-19. Small businesses in agriculture, retail, and construction are facing immediate challenges with delayed shipments and rising costs. Congress must act now to stop this Administration’s unilateral power over." Panetta drew attention to immediate issues faced by various industries as a result of tariffs and called for congressional action.
In another post on April 16, Panetta expressed concerns about food security, particularly regarding the current administration's policies, saying "No family should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from. Yet, this administration's food program freeze is leaving food banks empty and farmers without support. I’m leading the fight to get these programs reinstated because feeding our communities should never be up." He emphasized the impact on food banks and farmers and stressed the need for reinstating supportive food programs.
