Rep. Jimmy Panetta, a U.S. Congressman serving California's 19th district, recently shared updates through a series of posts on social media. Known for his work since succeeding former Congressman Sam Farr in 2017, Panetta highlights various community engagements and legislative progress.

On April 17, 2025, Panetta expressed his enthusiasm for local agriculture, education, and innovation at Watsonville's National Ag Day Luncheon. He extended congratulations to Mark Sambrailo, recipient of the Al Smith Friend of Agriculture Award, and praised students recognized for their creative contributions in posters, poetry, and scholarships.

Later, on the same day, he highlighted the effectiveness of the IRS Direct File program in another post. This initiative has gained traction since its pilot phase, expanding to 25 states. It provides a service allowing taxpayers to file their returns directly with the IRS efficiently, reinforcing its role in simplifying tax processes for citizens.

In a subsequent communication, Panetta noted a discussion with a constituent about robustly supporting democracies worldwide. His engagement with residents reflects his dedication to democratic values and dialogue with the public.

Panetta, born in 1969 in Washington, D.C., has academic roots in California, having earned a degree from the University of California, Davis in 1991, followed by a JD from Santa Clara University in 1996. Now residing in Carmel Valley, he continues to serve his community with a focus on education, innovation, and democracy.
