On November 22, 2024, Rep. Panetta expressed enthusiasm over President Obama's visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. He stated, "Great to see President Obama at the Monterey Bay Aquarium highlighting the beauty, bounty, and importance of our oceans. Proud that our Central Coast continues to inspire efforts to protect marine life and educate future generations."

Later that day, he announced the reopening of Nacimiento-Fergusson Road after critical repairs were completed with federal support.
